Power of Prayer

Day 188

Reading: Isaiah 38:1 - Isaiah 42:25

Every human being needs to breathe to live. There is an aspect of our walk with God that is akin to breathing. It's called prayer. Without prayer a believer is lifeless. Prayer enables one to see the Life-Giver in action. When one breathes oxygen is taken in and it is distributed in the blood to the body. When you exhale carbon dioxide you are expelling death out of the body. Prayer is taking in the air of God and exhaling that which is the agenda of death.

To breathe the life of God and see its fruit in our lives we need to understand the place and importance of prayer. Hezekiah understood the power of prayer. When told of his impending death, he cried to God in prayer, reminding God of his service to Him and the result was a life extension. Prayer will see death turned around.

Prayer ties you to God. Prayer is the avenue through which one receives the grace and strength that God gives. Without prayer, we cannot see God in action. God cannot do anything in your life without your requesting Him. Prayer to God is a way of saying I need God and not a man or an idol to help me.

In the place of prayer, you will receive comfort from Heaven for your sins are pardoned. When you go to God in prayer knowing that only He gives comfort you will access that which introduces comfort instead of the pain in your life. I urge you to pray like never before. Let God make every crooked path straight, fill every valley and level every mountain as you pray and let Him be the driver of your life.

Prayer will open the blind eyes, open deaf ears, cause you to walk in places you didn't know, see opportunities you didn't know about. Prayer will cause your darkness to become light. Prayer will cause God to uphold you in greatness. Prayer allows you to access the power of God making you a channel for it to flow on earth. Get deeper in prayer and see a deeper flow of the power of God.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 41:10

Decree:

Isaiah 42:16
I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
