A Troubled World We Live In

Day 219

Reading: Ezekiel 27:1 - Ezekiel 31:18

I don't know about you however we are living in troubled times. Just listening to the news, reading the dailies, and social media will tell you that the world is sick. From the natural devastations to climate change the crimes we hear about the world is becoming a fearful place for many.

As I have been studying Ezekiel and especially the section covering the prophecies to the nations bordering God's children my heart has been burdened. Burdened because we live in an environment that's crying for help and when I look around I am exasperated by the needs of many. I began to ask myself what do we need in this hour where hope is in short supply to so many. What do we do when so many believers aren't even able to look outside their own boxset of challenges and help their neighbour?

Reading through today's reading I realised that the world is having its issues because of our failings in obeying God. God judged every nation that didn't obey Him. There is hope though in the promises of the Word of God. The psalmist declares that all nations shall come and worship God Psalms 86:9. God created mankind to worship Him and all the challenges we are facing are to draw us back to Him. Every nation shall worship Him and that day is drawing nigh! Are you preparing yourself to meet and worship your Maker?

Our rest is only found in Him. This world will only find its rescue and peace in God. Sin has resulted in creation being affected by the curse. Until the created takes the medication of the Creator, creation will writhe in pain. However, in the midst of this pain, a people who are full of hope will arise and see the glory of God over them causing them to shine as stars in the dark. These people are those given to worship God and live for Him alone. Are you one of them?

Memory Verse: Ezekiel 28:26

Decree:

Ezekiel 28:26
And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God.” (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
