Day 237
Reading: Nahum 1:1 - Nahum 3:19
Many times when we are faced with a storm in our lives we cry out to God and all we want is for Him to show up. God has His way and while we want God to move according to our ways it doesn't always happen. Nahum, whose name means comfort was ordained to bring comfort to the children of Israel at a time where they were living in fear of the Assyrians. Nineveh had forgotten God. After the revival of Jonah, when Nahum spoke to Nineveh they didn't respond and Nineveh was destroyed by the Babylonians.
Nahum brings words of comfort but to the people of Nineveh, he declared doom. Comfort for one is doom to another. When God is sending comfort to His children then the enemy is being discomforted. Understand that as soon as God speaks His word then your enemies are taking cover. With God on your side then what can your enemies do?
God declares that His way is the whirlwind and in the storm. That storm the enemy has thrown up is the vehicle God will ride in. That challenge is the vehicle that God will use to show off. The downfall of Goliath was what set up David. That Goliath will become your testimony. One of the things I enjoy in reading the Bible is the constant reminder that God is the Creator and is All Powerful. Clouds are the dust particles of God's feet. When I think of the thick clouds that bring rain I am in awe at the majesty of God.
The Psalmist declares that mountains quake at the presence of the Lord Psalms 114:7. Nahum reminds the children of God that mountains quake, hills melt, and the earth heaves in His Presence. Whatever, whoever conspires against the Lord cannot prsoper. God desires we understand that affliction doesn't arise a second time. You may be saying but Charles, I keep dealing with the issue. I also said the same thing to God. He quietly reminded me that we are born to take dominion and whenever an issue is prevailing over us it's our responsibility to grow into the place of dominion. I kept dealing with a medical issue with this scripture and kept believing that God is my healer. However, I kept collapsing and still was afflicted. Then I grew my muscles in faith for healing and suddenly the affliction was no more. Child of God exercise your muscle of faith and that affliction will be no more!
Memory Verse: Nahum 1:9
Decree:
Nahum 2:2
For the Lord will restore the excellence of Jacob like the excellence of Israel, for the emptiers have emptied them out and ruined their vine branches. (italics mine)
