But From This Day

Day 240

Reading: Haggai 1:1 - Haggai 2:23

There is a day and the day. You ask what's the difference? When you want to have a meeting you choose a day however a special day like your wedding day is the day. The day is a day of change. A day is just any day. As you read this blog may you have an encounter with God that leads you to have the day of a turnaround. May today be the day of new beginnings.

Haggai prophecies to the children of Israel who had returned from Captivity. Ezra had returned with some people from exile and together they rebuilt the Temple. However, after some time the project to rebuild the House of God had stalled. This is where we are introduced to Haggai. Haggai speaks to them and later tells them that the glory of this Temple they were building would be greater than the one they had before they were taken captive. God desires to make you and I better than when we lost what He had given us. The question I asked myself today is what is it that Haggai is telling me the key to seeing my life become more glorious than before.

Firstly, understand that you and I have a responsibility to build God's temple. We live in an age where the world revolves around Me, Myself and I. The children of God were busy building their own mansions while God's residence lay neglected. Let me ask you if you look at your spending on a monthly basis where is God?

Secondly, God requires total commitment. God doesn't like start-stop behaviour. He needs you and me to be fully committed to Him. Haggai reminds us that God owns all the silver and gold. That which many are working hard for God owns. Don't miss out on God chasing what He owns. The world and the heavens will experience a shaking that we may all worship the One who is the Desire of the nations. God desires we walk in holiness before Him in all things.

Thirdly,  understand that you are chosen to be God's signet on earth. In the olden days, a king wore a signet that was used as a seal of royal decrees. God will make you His seal of a royal decree. When people see you they will see the seal of God in you. Everything about you will bear the seal of God. People will not understand how everything about you will shine because you are becoming the expression of God's royal decrees of well being. You are about to say that your latter is better than the former. From this day God will bless you Haggai 2:19b.

Memory Verse: Haggai 2:6-7

Decree:

Haggai 2:9
The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.” (italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer ...

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Yesterday I wrote about obedience. What obedience opens our lives to is the operation of the blessing. By choosing to obey the Word we are choosing to open our lives to be blessed. The purpose of being blessed is not self ...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
