Mene Mene Tekel

Day 226

Reading: Daniel 5:1 - Daniel 8:27

What was found in Daniel is readily available for you and me! That which made Daniel prosper in his place God has shown me He is more than willing to give to us today and He is raising a generation of Daniels the question being are we willing to pay the price to walk like Daniel. As I read the passage this morning and sought God the words that were written by the finger of God rang heavy on my heart: Mene Mene Tekel are the first three words. Mene means God has numbered your Kingdom and finished it whilst Tekel means you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting.

Child of God, the day and age we live in requires we understand that God is very particular to our living upright. He judged the King Belshazzar for using the articles of the temple. In 24 hours what was written on the wall by the finger of God came to pass. May God have mercy over us believers in this day and age. When the words were written on the wall the king had every astrologer, wise person called to interpret. When no one could the queen advised the king to seek Daniel. Her words to the King about Daniel reveal why Daniel served under many kings. Daniel was not found wanting and when the king was overthrown Daniel remained in power. What did Daniel have that made him outstanding?

Firstly, the queen said that in Daniel was the Spirit of the Holy God. She didn't just say God but qualified her statement by calling God Holy. Daniel must have so walked in purity that people saw the holiness of God. They understood that Daniel was a man given to walking in the ways of a Holy God. The culture at that time and the lifestyle of the royal households meant that Daniel was a rare person. He chose not to live by the standards of the world around him but in accordance to the dictates of God. The Spirit of God in Daniel resulted in him having insight both in the natural and supernatural realms.

Daniel was found to have understanding in all things. No problem, enigma or challenge set before him was too hard for Daniel. God had blessed Daniel with a heart of understanding. One prayer we ought to pray daily is God give me understanding. Not just understanding of what to do to prosper but understanding that makes one outstanding in life. Daniel lived a simple life, he wasn't interested in royal gifts and accolades. His interest was to do right according to God. We need to possess a heart of understanding if we are to provide answers to corporations, nations and even to our families.

Daniel possessed an excellent spirit. He is not described as doing things with excellence which anyone can do. Doing things excellently and having an excellent spirit are two different things. You may be excellent at organising things but pathetic in cooking. However, an excellent spirit pervades every area of life. You smell excellence over all that a person with an excellent spirit does. It not only is about what they do but who they are. Ever met someone who's a great worker but not a good friend to have? When you have an excellent spirit people can't fault you because they see the best through you and you see the best in them.

I pray that we will desire to have an excellent spirit. With an excellent spirit, the gift of suspicion will die. Too many today are suspicious in their operations because they lack an excellent spirit in them to empower their life. An excellent spirit will attract people resulting in promotion being a norm. May the Spirit of God be found in us that we are not found wanting when God weighs our actions and lives.

Memory Verse: Daniel 5:14

Decree:

Daniel 6:3
Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. (italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer ...

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Yesterday I wrote about obedience. What obedience opens our lives to is the operation of the blessing. By choosing to obey the Word we are choosing to open our lives to be blessed. The purpose of being blessed is not self ...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
