Don't Laugh At Me When Things Aren't Working!

Day 218

Reading: Ezekiel 24:1 - Ezekiel 26:20

We all hate enemies. Everyone has enemies even the baby that is unborn has an enemy just ask any expectant couple. Reading through the Book of Ezekiel today I was struck at how many times God sent prophets to speak against the enemies of Israel. Notice that God didn't send the prophets to prophesy when David was king. God sent His prophets to the enemies of His children when all was haywire for His children.

When the children of God went into captivity the nations surrounding them were happy. Happy that their enemy was vanquished. I have news for my enemies, don't rejoice when I seem to fall. God is a God of second chances and this is one thing enemies don't understand.  No matter where you are in life, God is able to save you.

Ezekiel was sent to the nations around Israel. He was sent to prophesy to them God's intention for them. The common denominator was that they rejoiced that Israel was no more. They scoffed at Israel and mocked that the temple was no more. God may have judged His children and sent them to captivity but a bystander shouldn't scoff at anyone facing judgement. You see the enemies of God's children had not read that a righteous man falls seven times Proverbs 24:16.

I don't know what you are facing that has made you the punchline for people's jokes. I have news for those rejoicing at your downfall. God is not a respecter of persons. What God has done before He can do again. He is more than able to annihilate your enemies, mockers or scoffers. The same army that was sent to take the children of God captive acted against the enemies of the children of God. Let my mockers and scoffers take note, God will raise me up again to glory and am inviting you to watch as I become great. Don't rejoice when your enemies fall, in fact, we are encouraged to not even let our hearts to be glad that our enemies have stumbled because if God sees it He may turn his wrath from the enemy unto you Proverbs 24:17.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
