Mind The Gap

Day 217

Reading: Ezekiel 22:1 - Ezekiel 23:49

God's eyes are seeking for a person that He may show Himself strong on their behalf 2 Chronicles 16:9. Many today live without the realisation that God is watching. He is not only watching to weigh our actions. God is watching to see where your heart is regarding all the pain in the world. There is a gap between the will of God and that which many are doing. That gap is concerning to God for He created us for a specific purpose and when we are off that plan we require remedial action. As an Architect looks at the progress of the building and compares to the plan to see any gaps God also does the same. We are also expected to look at the gaps and in this looking at the gaps we have a responsibility towards building right.

God's concern with the gap between the status of mankind and where He ordained for humanity causes Him to grieve. God has made a way through which we are to deal with the gap we see. How do you deal with gaps in your life? When riding the London Underground one of the most famous phrases you will hear is "Mind the Gap". This is announced in places where there is a gap between the platform and the train. Whenever the announcer declares the warning "Mind the gap" your immediate reaction is to be careful how you step onto the train. Depending on your height you may end up taking a long stride into the train.

God needs us to take a stride in dealing with the gap we see in the disparity between His will and the current situations we are in. God expects someone to stand in the gap. God expects us to rise and be willing to stand in the gap to help a person over the gap. Imagine helping someone over a place where there is a gap. Prayer is how we stand in the gap. Praying to God who is the Helper is required in this day and age as we stand in the gap for our lives, cities and nations.

God is seeking for a person who is willing to seek Him by standing in the gap. We live in selfish times where many believers don't stand in the gap but are prayerful. They are prayerful for their own business but have no heart for standing in prayer for the cities or nations. Yet God is looking for a person who is willing to stand in the gap. We want God to find us in prayer for what concerns us, however, standing in the gap is praying for what concerns God. Not that you don't matter to God, however, prayer is enjoyable when we pray from the place of praying the heart of God.

May I urge you to spend time in prayer. Look up to God and ask Him where you may stand in the gap. Look at your city or nation and pray in accordance to the will of God for that city and nation. May God find us faithful in standing in the gap for our land. Mind the Gap!

Memory Verse:

Decree:

Ezekiel 22:30
So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
