The Life Stream

Day 224

Reading: Ezekiel 45:1 - Ezekiel 48:35

Ezekiel was a unique person. He was a priest who was called to be a prophet. He represents the new kind of child of God who would walk in dimensions that were not only priestly but prophetic. The Book of Ezekiel is not only a present-day book, however, it also is a futuristic book. The Book of Ezekiel has insight into the end times. Here was a priest who saw the temple of God in the future. Out of this temple flowed a river that would affect every life.

The first thing about the river of God that flows out of the temple is that it influences the environment. The River of God in us is to flow outwards and affect our environment. The River of God flows out of the temple that we are and affects everywhere it flows. My prayer is that God's river in our lives will flow and affect the culture of the day.

Secondly, the River of God has different dimensions with it. You begin by walking in the water that reaches ankle deep. The height of the River moves to the knee, the waist before it reaches a place where it carries you as it overflows over your life. You see the Spirit of God desires to lead you. That's why the river first reaches your ankles to cover your feet. From there as you keep flowing with the current of God's river and you soon will realise that your knees are covered by the waters of the river. Your knees symbolise your prayer life. As you mature as a child of God your prayer life moves from inward to outward. When the water reaches the waist the River of God is tied to your life. When the river of God is what you are tied to then your influence grows. Finally, the river overflows and carries us to the place where our influence is greatest and only God can make it happen. God's desire is that His children become like Joseph who moved from the pit to the palace where God's agenda would be realised.

The river of God in your life will cause you to bear fruit and come to the place of healing. God desires that out of our lives flows healing. The leaves of the trees that are impacted by the river give healing. God desires that His children be branches that carry the leaves of healing to the world. God desires that we bear fruit.

As the Book of Ezekiel comes to a close my prayer is that you will rise to the place where you see God like never before. Ezekiel in captivity saw Heaven. What are you seeing even when nothing seems to be working? Let every dry bone in your life come alive as you allow the river of God to overflow in your life leading to bear fruit and bring healing to the nations.

Memory Verse: Ezekiel 47:12

Decree:

Ezekiel 47:9
And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
