Cause For Hope

Everyday we read or hear of someone who gave up on life. I have come to realise that people who give on life have lost hope. With the pressures that society has today it is easy to lose hope. Hope is the fuel that moves our love activating faith. Without hope, life is useless.

The book of Lamentations not only records the cries of Jeremiah but in the middle of this book is a discourse on hope. I have always known that God is faithful but while studying this book I discovered a new reason not to give up. My hope tank was today refilled as I thought about hope and here is why Lam 3:19-26, 31-32, 40-41:
  • God's mercies protect me ensuring that I am alive even though things sometimes don't seem to be working right.
  • The compassion of God can never fail. The foundation for mercy is compassion and this foundation cannot be shaken whatever the earthquake one is facing.
  • God's compassion is fresh on a daily basis. God has a new store of compassion everyday.
  • God's faithfulness is unique; it's great!!
  • The Lord is my portion irrespective of what I am facing or feeling.
  • I will keep meditating and speaking to myself the promises of God over my life as this will fuel the hope of God in me.
  • Waiting on God fuels hope. Your hope is expressed in your waiting on God. Seeking God maintains hope. God is good to those who hope in Him. I will maintain my hope knowing that good is round the corner.
  • It is good to hope and wait on God without moaning about the circumstances that are robbing your hope.
  • God will not cast off forever. Do you feel forgotten? Here is one promise to always remember... God will not cast off forever as he will show compassion Lam 3:32.
  • Persist in the place of prayer and watch your miracle occur Lam 3:49-50, 55-58.
I have made a choice to examine my heart and determined to walk with God filled with hope. Only God can speak and it comes to pass. We mortals are at His mercy, and in His mercy I throw myself knowing that my dreams, expectations for 2010 and beyond will come to pass.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
