The Watchman

You and I have unique calls to serve God. God has by design made us different and unique. You and I are called to pursue God whatever your calling or purpose. In the midst of the call or destiny that God has ordained for you and I He has set us as watchmen. Prayer is what enables one to communicate with God. Prayer is another avenue of engaging God. Prayer is God's chosen method of relationship building.

Whether you are a plumber or a pastor, a councillor or counselor, an usher or the choir leader, we all have a responsibility to pray. It's in the place of prayer that miracles are wrought. Prayer enables one to wrestle and prevail thus establishing the dominion of God. Prayer is the place of communion with God. There are different levels of prayer. One dimension of prayer that i believe Ezekiel was challenging us not to forget was the watchman's dimension in prayer. You and I have a responsibility to pray not just for ourselves but for those around us. We have a duty to watch over not only our families, but our localities, the cities we live in and the nation we dwell in. God has called us to watch over the land we are set in.

God is looking for men and women who will rise in the role of a watchman in the place of prayer. True love of your neighbour is expressed in the place of a watchman. A watchman warns of the impending evil and only a committed person is willing to risk their lives to take up this role. As I read about the call to be a watchman and the responsibility as per Eze 33 I came to a place of conviction. As I read I realised how weak my prayer life is. I made a choice to stir up the watchman dimension in my prayer life that I may see the world changed.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
