Distractions

Building requires a focused attitude. To build, whether to restore or to see something new established requires that one to be focused. To build the future we desire we must be obsessed with our present day goals. Your today is a result of choices you made yesterday. It follows that today will affect tomorrow. We have a responsibility to making sure that for 2010 to be a great year you and I need to build right.

Yesterday I encouraged that we build using the Word of God. Let the Word be the foundation for everything. The world is still in existence as God spoke it into being. Building on the Word gives Eternal backing!! Many of our ideas fail because they did not have the right foundation.

As you go through life one discovers that there are many distractions that seek to slow us down. One distraction in life is people who are not walking with your vision. Hear me, anyone who is not for your vision for marriage, health, career, ministry, work, business, or goal is not a friend but a distraction. No matter how much they make you laugh. Am not saying that we should be surrounded by yes men. No what am saying is that you should be careful that the people around you have bought into the vision of your life before you listen to their criticism. In fact, distraction is a polite word. The best description is such people they are a hurdle to go over or circumvent around.

Prepare yourself that in this journey of life in 2010 you will not allow any form of distractions to avert your course of life. Don't allow any relative of distraction be it procrastination or busyness take you from being a student of the Word in your pursuit of wisdom. Nehemiah did not allow the words of the detractors distract him from the heavenly vision.

The best way of beating distraction is being focused. Maintain your focus to enter into the place of your domain. Focus in your acquisition of knowledge. Focus in your pursuit of wisdom. Focus in your maintaining courage in the face of adverse circumstances. Focus on the goal at hand, to be a student of the Word.

May 2010 be a year that you are focused on fulfilling your purpose.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
