Preparation

Life can be the most interesting movie to watch. The twists and turns that life brings our way either make or break a person. My mind is made up that in 2010 I will make it happen. No matter what twist or turn life may throw my way my heart is resolved that the Word of God over my life will be the foundation for every day of living. I have a lot I can write today but will keep it short as this is a blog not a book.

Before Esther was presented to the King she spent time preparing with the best. Too many times we give God just the remains of our life and don't spend time preparing. I would encourage you all to spend time preparing for 2010 and the days ahead.

Your life is today is preparation for eternity. Time is nothing in comparison with eternity. Note that how you prepare will determine whether you pass the exam called life. This exam is examined by God the Giver of Life. Understand that the King is extending His scepter for you to come in and invite Him to a banquet. In that banquet He will dine with you and issue commands that will empower you.

How did Esther prepare? She prepared using beauty preparations. This speaks of worship. This also speaks of prayer. She was tucked away for 12 months preparing to meet the King. Will you by the end of 2010 be ready to meet the King? We see her preparing to meet the king later with fasting. Develop a habit of fasting.

I know that its already 5 days into 2010, but you can still prepare for the remaining 360day. After preparation she obtained grace and favour. May you obtain grace and favour for all your endeavours in 2010.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
