A Turn Around

As I read the bible I have come to realise that God has entrusted me with the potential to succeed. Many times in the journey of life we encounter situations that are akin to captivity. Life sometimes just takes a turn when all seems to be working out. Sometimes we are the cause of the trouble that is troubling us.

Throughout the history of the children of God, the seed of Abraham, they have seen captivity many times. The main reason behind their captivity has been disobedience to the Word of God. The covenant God established with His children is one that protects from the enemy when fully complied to. A thorough reading of Deut 28 reveals the blessings that result from obedience to the Word and also the curses that follow disobedience. The book of Jeremiah reveals a time where captivity became the norm as they exchanged gods and forsook the God of Abraham and choose idols.

One thought has being playing on my mind all day. What have I allowed to take the place of my God? Is there anything that has become more important than God? Is there anything or anyone that is bigger than God in my life? Do I give my time, life, investments, anything that is mine with a heart of love or am I doing things just to look good before mankind? Is my heart pure before God or have i become a hypocrite? Do I serve from my heart or is it just to please others?

Sin is the biggest barrier to progress. Sin is the doorway to captivity. Sin is the ramp leading to hell. I have made a choice to lead a simple life. A simple life is one after the heart beat of God. Anything else I have chosen to de-clutter my life and follow after the heart of God. God sent Moses to tell Pharaoh to set the people of Israel free that they may go and worship God Exo 5:1. God has one desire for you and I, that is to worship Him with our everything.

I urge you to live a lifestyle of worship. Worshipping God will ensure that you are protected even when trouble seems to surround others. Worship will keep you far from sin.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
