Father and Son Restored

Day 15

Reading Gen. 46:1- Gen. 47:31

In every step of life learn to seek the favour of God. Jacob went to Beersheba a place where Abraham made a covenant with Abimelech and called on God; the same place where Isaac's servants found a well and gave the place the name and for Jacob, this was the place he was before he went to have the encounter with God in Bethel.

The restoration of the sons and daughters to the Father is vital for the well being of today. Today, many are living life without a relationship with the Father. God's greatest desire is the restoration of our relationship with Him.

Joseph had been prepared for the days that would come. He knew the customs of the day of the people whom he lived with. How many times do we carry our village thinking to the new place and expect to operate our village mindset yet have no understanding of the customs of the land? Interest in the peoples' customs in the land where you reside will result in favour!

When you are favoured doors open even for others you know. Joseph was asked by Pharaoh to appoint the chief herdsman from his brothers. Joseph was so admired for his wisdom and work ethic that he was a reference to employment.

Many times in economic history money has failed. The economic failure of national currencies is not new. Unfortunately, many today are not students of history and thus are oblivious to the fact that money does failure in a famine. God is looking for stewards who will shine in the midst of the famine about to hit the world. The famine in Egypt was so bad that Joseph not only bought everything including the land the people owned, but the people gave of themselves and the land. The government now owned the people, land and the livestock. This was the beginning of a permanent tax system. Ever wondered why most governments take a percentage of your income. Wonder no more. Joseph was the first tax collector.

Jacob realised that he was coming to the end of his life. He didn't want to be buried in Egypt but in the land of promise. He lived in Egypt for 17 years. The famine had ended and the people had become comfortable in Egypt.  The power of prophecy. God had seen this and told Abraham that they would live in Egypt for 400 years. Did they know this and thus become comfortable? Lord help me fulfil every prophecy over my life.

Memory verse: Gen. 47:27

Decree:

Father, I repent of the many times I have refused your love. I acknowledge that there is no other Father but You. Thank You for Your Love. I receive Your love and decree that today every relationship that is strained in my life is being restored to glory. As Joseph was restored relationally to his family I am restored. I decree that I am faithful and a good steward of Your resources. I decree that I am favoured by God and man in Jesus name. Amen.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
